Peggy / entdeckungsarten

I was born in 1974 in a small town near Dresden, grew up in a family where people painted, improvised and tinkered. At the age of 16, I came to Mainz and trained as a nurse. Driven by the feeling of doing things that make life happier, that make life more beautiful, I studied art history and film science at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz and graduated in 2007 with a Master of Arts.

But to use not only my head, but also my hands much more was my big wish. Colors have always been a part of my life. When my sons were born, we often used this medium to understand, to explain, to feel things.

And then the artist’s workshop came to me: a friend discovered a house in Mainz during a walk in the gloomy November. In need of renovation, colorful, and without further interested parties. For us it was love at first sight – and the start of my studio. A coincidence that fulfilled a lifelong dream for me.

In 2010, still in the midst of reconstruction, I opened the Atelier entdeckungsarten and started with art projects for children. The parents also wanted to experience art and so the studio was able to grow into what it is today: an open space for people who want to be creative.

I myself have taken up the brush again, my way of expressing what I feel and think. For me, it’s not a job, not a job, but pure happiness.

Inspired by life, my special love for the sea and travel, my pictures are created. I abstract what I see, give things felt shapes and colors. My artworks grow over several layers of color, are washed out and covered, get depth and feeling and invite the eye and soul to linger. Everyone can discover their own interpretation in the colors and structures of my works. Each piece of work is unique and therefore not reproducible. If you would like me to create a commissioned work, please contact me so that we can talk about your wishes and ideas. Please note, I like to paint the artworks in your desired colors but in my style.
